Eight and a half hours in the life of a Recruitment Consultant

Whilst no two days are the same at Key Personnel, this is a pretty accurate summary of how I can spend my time from the moment I start work through to the end of the day! Oliver Martin, Director

08:00: Breakfast seminar at a city law firm. Interesting subject matter, with an excellent guest speaker. Made a good contact, who explains she will need a PA in the next two months; agreed to call her later today.

09:30: Quick team meeting in the office. We discussed early activity and plans for the day. Feel confident that we all understand our priorities.

09:45: Time at my desk to review CVs that came in overnight. Left messages for people I want to speak to whose CVs look perfect for some of our current roles.

10:30: My focus switches to new business and I contact various companies I'd really like to help with their recruitment. I know we can do a great job for them. Set myself a goal to get at least one meeting, achieved two!

Midday: Catch up with Candidates (often easier when they are on their lunch breaks) and review the current permanent and temporary roles we have on the books at Key Personnel. Catch up on admin and emails!

13:45: Head out onto Colmore Row to meet a professional services client for coffee and a sandwich. My treat this time! Discussed an important new administrative role, where we have exclusivity.

14:30: Three client visits scheduled for the afternoon, all out of the city so it's time to hop into the car. It's also useful to meet with clients at their premises so we can understand more about their requirements and get some good honest feedback on our performance. A good afternoon - all seem happy and gave me some great feedback to pass onto the team.

18:00: That's me done for the day. Feeling tired but lots of exciting developments!
