MAPPING SERVICES TECHNICIAN - £14K

 

My client, a leading legal firm in the centre of Birmingham is looking for a Mapping Technician to join its property team.

The Mapping Services team provide a bespoke service to the Property/Real Estate Group and its clients.  Working alongside another Mapping Technician you will be responsible for the production of large maps/plans to client specification.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Producing, amending and converting complex Ordance Survey plans via CAD for drawing/making up to client specification ensuring they are Land Registry compliant.
  • Liaising with Ordnance Survey with regard to obtaining quotes and purchasing OS plans.
  • Producing plans for the Plot team, working for clients such as Miller Homes and Gleeson Homes; working from and understanding original architect drawings (CAD) and amending to client specification, ensuring they are Land Registry compliant, and amendment of plans in PDF format.
  • Ensuring all plans meet Land Registry requirements using scale rule.
  • Collating multiple title plans provided by the Land Registry to combine into one master plan.
  • Combing multiple plans (overlaying) to produce a master plan on acetate to client specification.
  • Copying colour plans, using scanner and plotter to produce large plans of sizes A2, A1 and A0.
  • Scanning documents and large plans to scale, ensuring Land Registry compliance.
  • Converting client plans to relevant formats.
  • Resizing plans so that they can be electronically sent to clients.
  • Recording disbursements on matters for finance purposes.
  • Updating floor plans for both Birmingham and London offices ensuring these are up to date with regard to new starters, leavers and internal moves.
  • Excel – producing/printing large excel spreadsheets.
  • General maintenance of plotter and scanner.
  • Liaising with Docucentre Team Leader for printing materials.
  • Ability to work on own initiative.
  • Flexible working approach.
  • Any other reasonable duties delegated by any Partner, Senior Manager of the firm or Group Support Manager.

This role will involve the use of Autocad, Ordnance Survey, Land Registry and PDF software; training will be provided.

Key skills and experience

You should have:

Basic CAD knowledge would be useful but also training can be given on this role.   An interest in legal, property and/or construction/surveying would be preferable.
